A class for both you and your baby

Come to a baby book club if you are ready to inspire a love of reading in your baby by exploring and enjoying a variety of wonderful books, whilst making life-long friends with other mums in a beautiful, calm and relaxed, welcoming, and friendly environment.

These classes are for you if…

  • You want to feel part of a caring community of mums and want to find your tribe or support network,

  • You want your baby to grow up loving and enjoying books and reading,

  • You want inspiration for book collections and reading nooks that you can create at home,

  • You want to perhaps spark your own love of reading again,

  • You are craving adult conversation! These classes give you lots of opportunity to get to know and chat to other mums,

  • You want to remind yourself how you can use toys and open-ended resources to compliment books at home,

  • You want photos taken of you and your baby! Because lets be honest, no one ever thinks to take photos of mama and baby. I snap away and send them over to you.

  • You love the idea of a chilled baby class with weekly themes, singing, reading, nursery rhymes and lots of adult conversation.

So if this class sounds like it might just be for you, I look forward to meeting you soon!

  • What a session looks like...

Continue reading below to learn what a baby book club session looks like and what to expect.

Each week a session will look like this…

  • We start with an introduction. I will ask why you have joined baby book club – is it because you want to meet new people? To encourage a love of reading in your baby? Simply to get out of the house! Or all of the above?

  • First, a story, read by Jordan, to begin the session and an ice breaker whilst the kettle’s on.

  • Watch your baby explore independently (without the sensory overload). See how they interact with the books, toys and with other babies. All whist you get to know other mums, make friends, ask advice, share motherhood moments, and enjoy some “arms empty time” if you wish to.

  • If you have an older baby, I encourage you to read to your child in parts of the session, explore new words, beautiful illustrations, use different voices to keep their interest. Enjoy that time with them sitting on your knee, snuggled into you, listening to your voice. How wonderful is that?

  • Each session ends with songs or nursery rhymes with our book club pal, Spot the Dog – the babies LOVE Spot!

  • There is a different theme each week. These are planned by Jordan, an experienced Early Years teacher, having worked in a Reception Class for 12 years.

  • Groups are small, with up to 9 mums and their babies.

  • Be part of a WhatsApp group to use outside of class however you wish to, such as asking questions, organising meet ups outside of class, share funny baby stories or stressful situations…

  • Always an extra pair of hands (Jordan!) to help with poo explosions, cuddles (with you or baby!!) while you drink your cuppa, carry bags… whatever you need.

Subscription Info and Terms and Conditions

Baby Book Clubs from Sept will be booked monthly rather than half termly. This is great news for you as this means that your space is yours until you decide not to come anymore. That space is yours, so I won’t need to keep asking you if you’re coming back, I won’t need to ask you to book on by a certain day every six weeks when it’s time to rebook - it’s your space for as long as you’d like it! Baby brain is real – you forget to do these things and then risk losing your space if you don’t book on quick enough. Now there’s no risk of that happening, yey! You will also know exactly how much it’s going to be each month and I’m not asking you for a huge amount of money every time you need to rebook your space.

Subscriptions are a way of spreading the yearly cost of classes across 11 months (we don't take a payment in August 2025). The monthly amount has been worked out as an average so that it remains the same every month, whether there are 3 or 4 classes. Classes will run roughly in line with school terms, with breaks for school holidays. Terms and dates on the booking page are just a way of me letting you know the dates of classes for the coming period.

  • From September 2024 you can join a Baby Book Club (including Mini Bookworms and Book Club Wizards) by signing up to a monthly subscription through the link for ClassForKids found on the website www.thetravellingbookclub.co.uk

  • Monthly subscriptions will be taken once a month, on the 1st of every month through the booking system ClassForKids. This subscription will then cover that coming month. For example, if you sign up before the 1st August your subscription will come out on the 1st, this subscription cost will cover August classes. The following subscription will then cover the following months classes, and so on.

  • There is a 2 month minimum subscription period. If you know you want to join for less than 2 months please contact me to discuss prior to booking.

  • Signing up by subscription secures your space in your group.  If your subscription is not fulfilled your space will be offered to the first person on the waiting list for your particular class.

  • At the discretion of the business owner, and depending on availability and any prevailing health and safety guidelines it may be possible for you to make up the missed class by attending any of our other meet ups. This should be within the same week that you would have attended but missed and may not be carried over to dates beyond this. Please check with Jordan for availability before attending a different baby book club session.

  •  If a baby book club session is cancelled by Jordan you will be informed of the options available to you.

  • Should you wish to cancel your subscription you will need to let Jordan know before the 15th of the month so then your subscription will stop at the end of the month (i.e. no further payments will be taken). If you let me know after the 15th then your subscription will stop at the end of the following month (i.e. 1 more payment taken). Cancelations need to be made through Jordan by the 15th of the month to gives ClassForKids enough time to process your cancellation.
